Plagiarism Policy

AL-MAQĀṢID: The International Journal of Maqāṣid Studies and Advanced Islamic Research (hereinafter referred to as "the Journal") is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of scholarly ethics and will not be tolerated.

Definition of Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's ideas, words, or work without proper attribution or permission, presenting them as one's own original work. This includes, but is not limited to, copying text verbatim from another source without quotation marks and citation, paraphrasing or summarizing another author's ideas without appropriate acknowledgment, and self-plagiarism (reusing one's own previously published work without proper citation or disclosure).

Detection of Plagiarism: The Journal utilizes plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts for potential instances of plagiarism. Authors are required to submit original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration for publication in any other journal. Any suspected cases of plagiarism will be thoroughly investigated by the editorial team.

Consequences of Plagiarism: If plagiarism is detected in a submitted manuscript, the following actions may be taken:

  1. Rejection of the manuscript: The manuscript will be immediately rejected from consideration for publication in the Journal.
  2. Notification of the author's institution: The relevant institution(s) affiliated with the author(s) may be notified of the plagiarism incident.
  3. Blacklisting: The author(s) may be banned from submitting future manuscripts to the Journal.
  4. Public disclosure: Details of the plagiarism incident may be publicly disclosed, including the names of the author(s) and the title of the manuscript.

Prevention of Plagiarism: Authors are strongly encouraged to adhere to the following guidelines to prevent plagiarism:

  • Properly cite and reference all sources used in the manuscript, including direct quotations, paraphrases, and ideas.
  • Use quotation marks or indentation for verbatim text from another source, accompanied by appropriate citation.
  • Avoid excessive paraphrasing and ensure that the majority of the content is in the author's own words.
  • Obtain permission for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript.
  • Clearly distinguish between the author's original contributions and existing work by other authors.
  • Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed;
  • The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted;
  • An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable;
  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
  • Working Process:
    1. Editorial Team checking manuscript on offline and online database manually (checking proper citation and quotation);
    2. Editorial Team checking manuscript by using Turnitin software result provided by author at submission stage. If it is found plagiarism indication (more than 20%), the board will reject the manuscript immediately.
